Easily confused words- lie / lie / lay




1. lie - (v.) - to say or write something that is not true in order to deceive someone


2. lie – (v.) -   to be on a horizontal position
 
3. lay -  - (v.) – put down - to put something in especially a flat or horizontal position, usually carefully or for a particular purpose



Examples:

1. He laid the tray down on the table.


2. He lies awake at night, worrying. 



3. The river lies 30 km to the south.

4. Peter lied that he had a car accident yesterday.
